Christmas is the time of year that I pay rent for some of my sites. By long tradition the rent is a jar of honey per hive per year.  Very reasonable.

Now let’s work it out. A National hive is 18″ square; that’s 4 to a square yard. An acre is a chain (22 yards) x a furlong (220 yards) so that’s 4840 square yards x 4 = 19360 hives. I sell my honey for £4 a pound. 19,360 x 4 = £77,440 per acre!

Very reasonable?
