LORD NORTHCLIFFE PULLS THE PLUG!

For those of you who haven’t done so yet, I recommend you visit the Dorset BKA website while you can.  It is part of a ‘Beehive’ network kindly set up by Lord Northcliffe a decade ago but now he’s pulling the plug and we shall have to find another host.  If anybody has any ideas or suggestions please let me know as I am the fumbling ‘webmaster’.

A new site will need to be a) free b) simple and idiot proof to create and update (I’m a technophobe!) c) not beset by irrelevant pop up ads (relevant side ads might be tolerable) d) user friendly for the viewer.

About chrissladesbeeblog

I have been keeping bees since 1978 and currently have about a dozen hives. I am a member of the BBKA where for many years I represented Dorset at the Annual Delegates' Meeting. I am the co-author (with Dave MacFawn of of S. Carolina) of "Getting the Best from Your Bees" and am working on a book of my own poems : "Bee People".

If you are comfortable using wordpress (like this site), then that might be a good option, because it’s relatively easy to manage. If you got a domain name for your bee club, you could set it up with that – if you want any technical help feel free to email me (gary@garresonpublishing.com).

I was going to suggest the same Chris. The only thing is that WordPress.com hosted sites have a limit of 35 users (so don’t make it interactive!) though 3Gb is very generous disk space. I am familiar with WP.

Give me a call to have a chat about options if you want

    David
