I’ve just been talking with Bees for Development when I rang to give an on-line donation. I had handed them a cheque at the National Honey Show but they gave it back suggesting that, instead, I sign up for the ‘Big Give’ pledge. This enables donations from the little people like me to be more than matched by those from richer philanthropists as well as getting a bit from the Chancellor of the Exchequer.  In effect they more than double your money!

I asked whether my donation would just be put in the pot or whether they have a particular project in mind.  What they are doing at the moment is beekeeping research and education in Ghana and in Kenya.  If you want to know more, take a look at their website:  . Under their ‘News’ section it tells you all about The Big Give. I shall have a look at it myself!
