Princeton University Press has sent me another book to review.  This one is nothing to do with bees: SILENT SPARKS is about the Wondrous World of Fireflies and is by Sara Lewis.

It’s a brilliant book!  Although written by a scientist and therefore containing all the very detailed and highly accurate information you’d expect, it is written in a very entertaining way, including the feelings fireflies awaken in her, poetry, pictures, play and humour.

This makes the book very readable and hard to put down.  I learned a lot, including how closely related the fireflies I saw in Virginia are to the glow worms along the old railway track near my village in Dorset

Sara’s style makes learning her subject so enjoyable!
